Keshi to sign Eagles contract before Sudan tie —NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has brought a mes­sage of hope to the Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, assuring that he would seal a fresh contract before the Africa Nations Cup qualifiers double encounter against Sudan next month.
General Secretary of the federation, Barrister Musa Amadu, who gave the assurance while fielding questions from Daily Sun sports at the federation, however, dismissed the insinuations that the delay in the contract was respon­sible for the poor result Eagles got against visiting Red Devils of Congo in Calabar.
“I cannot see how the coach’s contract will affect the performance of the team. That the inability of the coach to know his fate was responsible for the result is a mere specula­tion.
“I have no doubt that he will sign a new contract and I don’t even think he will return to USA. We will have sufficient time to iron out all these things,” he added.
“I know that it is critically important that the coach signs his contract to secure his future and know exactly what is due to him. I am sure we will be able to sort out those things before the next two games against Sudan,” Amadu assured.
Amadu, who also gave an update on the forthcom­ing NFF congress, denied issuing a release that the forthcoming elective con­gress would hold in Warri, Delta State, stressing that only the first Extraordinary General Assembly would take place on September 20.
His words: “As far as election and the two congresses are concerned, I have made the agenda clear that the executive committee would propose to the congress a roadmap. I can confirm to you that the first extraordinary general assembly will take place on September 20 in Warri, Delta State.
“On that day, as I said earlier, the Executive Committee will propose a roadmap, leading up to the election for the congress to endorse. For now, the venue, date and roadmap are very tentative until the congress endorses the programme. It is the congress that will ratify them as they deem fit,” he explained.
